The new seat is finished on the passenger carriage

We have now fitted the buffers and the new vinyl seat cover on the passenger carriage.

We cut a sheet of 6mm MDF to fit the seat section and then stapled the vinyl on the underside with 6mm staples.

I was quite hard to pull the vinyl round the back and get the staples in place while keeping a constant pressure on the vinyl so there were no bulges in the covering but it seemed to turn out ok.

The biggest challenge was folding the ends neatly. We folded them the same was as you would wrap a present in the end. The best way of fitting the vinyl was to ensure the strip we cut was dead straight and the we stapled all along one edge. We then pulled it right round under tension and made sure the other side was equally positioned all the way down in relation to the first edge as we stapled. It wasn't easy to do this as the vinyl is quite stretchy. I ordered extra anyway so we would have a couple of attempts in case it all went wrong and so we also had enough for the cover on our drivers truck. Next its time to put some yellow pinstripes on for a bit of decoration.
