The latest addition to our rolling stock

We have just acquired a passenger carriage from Station Road Steam in Lincolnshire.

This long awaited addition to our railway will enable us to finally take visitors round on our open days.

Its not ready to run and needs lots of TLC before its put into use.

The previous owner had used wooden door knobs as buffers which although very inventive doesn't quite achieve the look we wanted so we have purchased some nice new sprung buffers from 17D in Matlock (see above).

Although the wooden frame and running boards need attention, the basic structure is all intact and most importantly the bogies look in quite good condition. At 51 inches long we may need to shorten it slightly pending testing on the 10 foot radius curves we have and the various trees and stumps by the trackway. We may just build a new carriage to our own design and just use the bogies... More news on this later.
